Abstract: Research studies mothers' reports of parental acceptance, symptoms of depression, infant distress, and marital aggression to determine their longitudinal impact on postpartum depression and maternal sensitivity. A model of maternal sensitivity that considers family characteristics and maternal self-esteem is presented.
