Abstract

The structure, function, and biochemical properties of granins are reviewed. Topics include molecular and genetic aspects, intracellular functions, extracellular functions, distribution in neuroendocrine tissues, and clinical uses. Granins are secretory proteins released by vesicles in neuroendocrine cells.
