Abstract
- A selective abortion can be done if a woman has a twin or triplet pregnancy in which one fetus has a chromosome abnormality and the others do not. In a study of 200 selective abortions, the miscarriage rate was only 4%. The risk of a miscarriage was about five times higher in women pregnant with three or more fetuses compared to those with twins.
