Intergeneric conjugation in Streptomyces peucetius and Streptomyces sp. strain C5: chromosomal integration and expression of recombinant plasmids carrying the chiC gene

In the intergeneric conjugation between Escherichia coli and Streptomyces peucetius and Streptomyces sp. strain C5, the forein genes integrate into a single chromosomal site in C5 and S. pucetius. Furthermore, integration of chiC gene into the wild-type S. peucetius chromosome results in a 30-fold increase in chitinase production.
