Abstract

Gene mutation studies demonstrate that the clpP1 and clpP2 genes encoded proteins control distinct and separate regulatory pathways in Bacillus thuringiensis. Bacteria carrying mutations in both the genes show susceptibility to salt stress and differences in virulence, whereas mutation only in clpP2 affects sporulation and cell motility.
