Abstract

The eyes in the retinol-binding protein-deficient mice are incapable of meeting their requirement of retinol through uptake of absorbed dietary retinol, which results in the impaired vision phenotype in these mice. In the normal mice, the eyes show preference for acquiring retinol from the retinol-retinol-binding-protein complex.
