Theoretical study and X-ray determination of bianthrones: long C-C bond length and preferred gauche conformation

Research has been conducted on the bianthrone X-ray crystallographic structures. The use of density functional theory calculations in investigating these structures is described and the presence of central C-C bonds and gauche conformation has been confirmed.
