Influence of sediment nitrogen-availability on carbon and nitrogen dynamics in the seagrass Thalassia testudinum

Research on Thalassia testudinum seagrass populations in Texas' Laguna Madre and Corpus Christi Bay indicate that plant tissue production through carbon fixation is linked to sediment nitrogen levels. In low nitrogen conditions, above-ground growth is diminished while below-ground growth is enhanced, while high nitrogen conditions enhance above-ground production.
