Abstract

The complete genome sequence of Yersinia pestis KIM is presented. The 4.6-Mb genome encodes 4,198 open reading frames and bear broad similarity to Escherichia coli K-12 sequence with respect to the origin, terminus, and DNA replication protein encoding genes. The KIM-specific island genes encode pathogenicity proteins.
