Long-range electron transfer across molecule-nanocrystalline semiconductor interfaces using tripodal sensitizers

Research describes the syntheses and photophysical characterization of four Ru(sup)II-polypyridyl compounds containing tripodal ligands. Data indicate that the Ru centers are between 15-17 angstroms from the surface and are attached via an incompletely conjugated bridge, which facilitates unchanged redox and steady-state optical properties upon attachment of nanoparticles.
