Attachment and social preference in cooperatively-reared cotton-top tamarins

The behavior of infants of the cotton-top tamarins (Saguinus oedipus) in normal and fearful situations show that their attachment is toward family member with whom they were previously associated. Data indicate father as the primary attachment figure in these cooperatively breeding monkeys.
