Organization of an efficient carbonic anhydrase: implications for the mechanism based on structure-function studies of a T199P/C206S mutant

X-ray crystallographic structure shows details of the structural requirements for an effective substrate binding and an efficient carbon dioxide hydration system as revealed by the mutant carbonic anhydrase-substrate-inhibitor complex analysis. Data reveal a new binding site for bicarbonate in the mutant enzyme.
