Abstract

Dual-chamber pacemakers may be better than single-chamber pacemakers for treating patients with an abnormally slow heartbeat, according to a study of 2,010 patients. Single-chamber pacemakers only stimulate the lower part of the heart, but a dual-chamber pacemaker stimulates both upper and lower parts. However, dual-chamber pacemakers are more expensive and more complicated than single-chamber pacemakers.
