Abstract

Research has been conducted on the alarmone guanosine tetraphosphate, ppGpp. The ppGpp-dependent alteration in sigma-factor core binding competition has been investigated and the results indicate that this alteration is a part of the stringent response allowing the alternative sigma factors to operate during cellular stress.
