Abstract

Results show 23S rRNA fragments containing hairpin 92 and helix 90 elements catalyze high affinity binding of both ATP and RNA to Escherichia coli DbpA protein. Data indicate an allosteric cooperativity in the binding of larger RNA substrates and ATP to the protein, which requires 23S rRNA:helix 89 helix.
