Abstract

This article discusses the work of radical right wing Russian geopolitican Alexander Dugin, contextualizing his life and works in terms of Russian political developments and the shift towards Eurasianism in foreign policy thinking during the 1990s. The author inquires into Dugin's concept of geopolitics and strategy as conveyed through maps and texts, his debates over power and knowledge, a comparison of what the author considers Dugin's excessive and geopolitical imperialism with current Russian foreign policy, relations between Dugin's work and neo-fascism are examined, and his reliance on occultism and environmental determinism are highlighted.
