Differential synthesis of peritoxins and precursors by pathogenic strains of the fungus Periconia circinata

Strains of Periconia circinata that are not pathogenic appear to be deficient in the synthesis of peritoxins. This was the conclusion of researchers who found intermediates of peritoxin synthesis only in pathogenic, toxin-producing strains but not in non-pathogenic, non-toxin-producing strains.
