Abstract

Research has been conducted on the ferric uptake regulator (fur) gene product which acts as an iron-responsive transcriptional repressor protein. The biological function of the fur homolog in dissimilatory metal-reducing bacterium Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 and the possible regulatory role of S. oneidensis MR-1 Fur in energy metabolism have been investigated.
