Horizontal transfer of the plant virulence gene, nec1, and flanking sequences among genetically distinct Streptomyces strains in the Diastatochromogenes cluster

Research has been conducted on the pathogenicity island which carries virulence gene nec1 and flanking sequences among Streptomyces strains in the Diastatochromogenes cluster. The horizontal transfer of this pathogenicity island has been investigated and the results indicate that plant-pathogenic Streptomyces strains are genetically distinct from those of S. scabiei.
