Abstract: Methylotrophs and methanotrophs such as strain IMB-1 and Leisingeria methylohalidivorans strain MB2(super T) can oxidize methyl bromide at tropospheric concentrations of 12 parts per trillion by volume. Methyl bromide is a fumigant that contributes to ozone depletion.
