Abstract
- This article examines the medical treatment of a young Arab girl from an affluent Arab community who was suffering from a severe congenital defect. The author, exploring the social aspects of medical treatment, maintains that even though the family was able to afford sophisticated treatment the girl's illness created conflict between her, her family, and the physicians, resulting in the girl's preference of the care of the staff over being with her family.
