Characterization of xylanolytic enzymes in Clostridium cellulovorans: expression of xylanase activity dependent on growth substrates

Research demonstrates that Clostridium cellulovorans expresses xylanase activity when grown in the presence of xylan and the enzyme composition varies depending on the substrate present in the growth medium. The Xylanase activity is exhibited by a cellulosomal and noncellulosomal cell fractions with alpha-arabinofuranosidase exclusively in the latter fraction.
