Oxa bowls: synthesis and C-H...O mediated solid state structure of pentaoxa-[5]-peristylane

Research has been conducted on the [n]-oxa-[n]-peristylanes, a family of oxa bowls which have a crownlike shape and C (sub)nv symmetry. The synthesis of the pentaoxa-[5]-peristylane has been performed via the Diels-Alder adduct of the 5,5-dimethoxy-tetrachlorocyclopentadiene and maleic anhydride and the results are reported.
