Abstract

Research has been conducted on the endonuclease VIII of Escherichia coli involved in the base-excision repair of DNA oxidative damage. The substrate specificity and excision kinetics of this DNA glycosylase for the DNA bases damaged by the free radicals have been investigated and the results are reported.
