Abstract: Research demonstrates that fibrinogen-binding proteins Fbe and SdrG from Staphylococcus epidermidis HB and K28 strains, respectively, are analogous and together constitute Fbe. Gene mutation in the fbe gene suggests that Fbe proteins promote bacterial adherence to fibrinogen.
