Selective halogen-magnesium exchange reaction via organomagnesium ate complex

Results demonstrate that magnesium ate complex facilitates the facile-halogen-magnesium exchange in aryl- and alkenyl- halides at low temperatures. Data indicate that the reaction can be used for preparing organomagnesium reagents and fine-tuned by selecting proper ligands on magnesium.
