- Women are discharged from the military at an average rate of about 18,000 a year (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2017). As they transition to veteran status, current estimates indicate [...]<br />Unhealthy alcohol use (UAU) is increasing. Women military veterans (WMVs) are not exempt, especially with their military-related physical and behavioral stressors. Proactive approaches for at-risk WMVs with UAU using Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) are discussed.
