Abstract

Brian Kennedy, the director of the National Gallery of Australia, is in negotiations to acquire British artist Lucian Freud's painting 'After Cezanne.' It was published in The Australian in April 2001, that the 1999 painting would be acquired for approximately $A8 million, making it the most expensive painting ever bought by a public art gallery in Australia.
