Abstract
- Sales and earnings for the retail industry have been hurt by lower consumer confidence during the 2000 fiscal year. The market share of discount stores continues to grow, but same-store sales for the department store segment have been disappointing. The appeal of these stocks to investors is limited in the 1st qtr of the year 2001.
