Abstract

This article examines the historiographical misunderstandings of the methodology employed by economist Vilfredo Pareto. Issues include the mix of ordinalist-operationalist theories in neoclassical economics in modern choice theory, and the ability to construct economic theories without assuming a cardinal utility function.
