Abstract

An analysis of how knowledge and technical expertise of small engineering firms helped the construction of the $14-billion Boston's Central Artery/Tunnel, also called the Big Dig, is presented. The small firms provided technical expertise on urban design, architecture, and traffic management to large engineering firms.
