Abstract

The evolution of scent-mediated behavior has been studied in the rock-dwelling velvet gecko (Oedura lesueurii) using modern comparative methods and a snake species, Hodeplocephalus bungaroides, as the selective agent. The results give support for an often-suggested, nevertheless speculative, idea that prey can adapt to predation pressure on a small local scale.
