Abstract

We study the features of the heat and mass transfer accompanied by diffusion-limited evaporation in a two-phase liquid--gas system with an interface on the basis of an exact solution to the thermosolutal convection equations. We examine changes in kinematic and temperature characteristics in the two-layer system as well as the vapor content in the carrier gas and evaporative mass flow rate on the interface. We analyze the stability of the exact solution and study the evolution of the neutral curve topology and the most dangerous perturbations with changes in the gas flow rate. We ascertain the destabilizing influence of the pumping gas on the threshold characteristics of the stability for the two-layer flow. Bibliography: 18 titles. The results of [...]
