Abstract
- It has been shown, using gene targeting, that two closely related proteins, MBD2 and MBD3, are not functionally redundant in mice. MBD3, based on genetic and biochemical data, seems to be a key component of the Mi-2/NuRD corepressor complex. MBD2 may be one of a number of factors that can recruit the complex to DNA. Maternal behavior is defective and a component of MeCP1 is missing in Mdb2(-/-) mice.
