Structure of potential upwelling areas in the Philippines

Abstract: The oceanic upwelling areas of the Philippine archipelago exhibit unusual cold subsurface temperature rendering them not detectable by satellite imagery. The temperature field data at standard depths, extending up to 500 meter, reveal a change in heat content to be greater than 300 Watts per meter square in upwelling areas.
