Abstract

Notable products introduced at Comdex-Fall 1988 include: Presentation Manager from IBM and Microsoft; Wang Laboratories' Freestyle, which is an operating environment-user interface; Sterling Castle Software's Logic Gem, a logic processor and code generator; Intel's Digital Video Interface, which enables microcomputers to display full-motion video and television-like images; Samna Corp's Ami, a word processor that brings some of the graphical features found on the Macintosh to DOS microcomputers: Aristotle Industries Inc's HARDPAC Micro 20 and 40 portable hard disk drives; and the Commodore Amiga 2500, a 68020-based microcomputer that is capable of multitasking. Key issues at Comdex included availability of the new Presentation Manager applications, the non-IBM Micro Channel Architecture microcomputers and the Extended Industry Standard Architecture boards.
