Abstract
- This article discusses the financial problems of post-Soviet Russia and its attempt to enter into the market economy, tracing many of the economic difficulties back to the late 1980s when the budget deficit had increased and money began to devaluate. The turn to market economics and liberalization during the collapse of the USSR, a period of economic crisis, and the structure of the Russian economy are considered as contributing to the financial problems of transition.
