Transcriptional co-regulation of five chitinase genes scattered on the streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) chromosome

Of the eight chitinase genes of Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2), five are induced by colloidal chitin and chitobiose with the latter inducing chitinase gene transcription sooner than the former. Data further suggest that glucose represses the expression of the five chitinase genes.
