Abstract

The Electro-Optics Division of Honeywell Inc developed an innovative employee motivation and retention program as a solution to low employee morale. The program was called 'Great Performers'. Its purpose was to recognize employees at all levels of the company who perform jobs well. Employee photos and quotations about overcoming obstacles were posted in company offices, and the posters of the employees were presented along side of pictures of great performers in the arts, science, and business. This not only served to recognize employees, but also made the employees feel important through the visual and textual association with famous people.
