Abstract
- Research suggests that two newly discovered exon 3 insertions in the nuclear proto-oncogene c-myc may be responsible for shared common ancestry between the New World oscines Cardinalinae, Emberizinae, Icteridae, Parulidae and Thraupinae. These groups possess three amino acids inserted at the 991 position within the chicken sequence.
