Studies on the narciclasine alkaloids: total synthesis of (+)-narciclasine and (+)-pancratistatin

The formation of (+)-narciclasine and (+)-pancratistatin by an enantioselective process is presented. The significance of the photocyclization to synthesize these antitumor alkaloids is described.
