- Pfizer Inc launched a hostile takeover of Warner-Lambert Inc for $82.4 billion after Warner-Lambert signed a $72 billion merger agreement with American Home Products Corp. Pfizer is interested in increasing its research and development budget as well as Warner-Lambert's drug, Lipitor.
