Conjugative junctions in RP4-mediated mating of Escherichia coli

Abstract

Results demonstrate that in donor bacteria containing conjugative plasmids, distinctive junctions are found between outer membranes of the mating cells. Data also indicate that the junctions are not composed of pilin.
