Let's conquer the divide

Information systems are generating new wealth and are a primary factor in fueling the economic expansion currently being enjoyed in the US, but the gulf between wealth and poverty has not narrowed but is widening. The US faces a challenge of demonstrating that capitalism is not a zero-sum game: the challenge is to show that pverty can be overcome in the Information Age. Wealth creation depends on access to information, but access must be to the right information. Disadvantaged children are learning how to be high-tech consumers but not how to be high-tech earners.
