Abstract

The geographical distribution of human monocytic ehrlichiosis (HME) and human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE) in the United States reveals that HME is mostly prevalent in southeastern and southcentral states whereas HGE in northeastern and upper midwestern states. Data indicate that reported cases of these zoonotic diseases incidence increased greatly, from 69 in 1994 to 364 in 1997.<br />The emerging tick-borne zoonoses human monocytic ehrlichiosis (HME) and human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE) are underreported in the United States.
