Abstract: Research concerning reaction of phosphites with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and C (sub)60 to produce phosphite ylides has been conducted. Hydrolysis of these ylides used to introduce phosphonate ester, phosphine oxide and phosphonic acid to a fullerene moiety is described.
