Abstract

Research was conducted to identify specific amino acid(s) in a tripeptide at C-terminus of Manganese Stabilizing Protein (MSP) involved in the binding to photosystem II and restoring oxygen producing activity. Results from mutagenesis studies indicate that leucine 245 imparts stability to MSP and aids in the binding and oxygen production.
