Abstract
- The leading retail store chains which comprise the retail store industry have mixed prospects for 1999 and the year 2000 with discounters gaining market share and disappointing results for department stores. Many store chains are also launching electronic commerce efforts with Wal-Mart, Federated, and Nordstrom's in the lead. Investors should consider only the most timely stocks and those companies which will benefit the most from electronic commerce.
