Progress report: taxation and electronic commerce

The OECD is taking the leading role in coordinating work on electronic commerce and taxation, collaborating closely with the European Union on consumption tax issues. The OECD secretariat has now prepared a progress report on taxation developments in 1999. It has set up a global dialogue to develop an internationally consistent approach to the principles set down in the Taxation Framework Conditions, adopted by APEC countries at a joint OECD-APEC meeting in Nov 1998. It is also working with private sector groups which are developing protocols and standards relating to electronic commerce.
