Abstract

The women's movement in the US has transformed women's lives since getting its second wind in around 1968, yet it has been silenced. Feminism is simply the belief that women matter as much as men yet feminists rarely appear on television in the US and feminist issues are never discussed in general newspapers or magazines. Feminists in the US have had problems earning a living and young women avoid using the term feminist, yet those who took part in the women's movement have no reason to be ashamed since they improved life for millions of women worldwide.
